Our life is one big bargain playground- whether we wish to lick a lollypop or want to make new friends when we hit the first grade. Humans use two different sets of norms when exchanging interaction with others:
1. Economical set- consideration of loss VS. profit.
2. Social set- we do things because we get something more than just money. If someone offers
money for our kindness and true good will- we will be offended by it.
Companies came to realize that in this world, when we need more loyalty, consideration, obligation and so on, from our workers (as we treat our friends), they can't just treat their employees with the past economical set of mind– work for salary.
What companies really should know is that they can't mix the two sets of mind and behavior or they will damage the whole relationship! The social set is very fragile and once their employees meet any behavior that reminds them of their economical set of behavior, they will shift their consideration towards- I give VS. what I gain.
If you embraced these norms don't forget to back it in all spectrums. Be their friends- be considerate, thoughtful and forgiving.

Irrational.
